General Information and Rules
Attention Poultry Exhibitors!
All poultry exhibitors must comply with WSDA's Rules for Exotic Newcastle Disease (END). For information concerning END visit the Pend Oreille Country Fair website (www.povn.com/pocofair/ ) or contact the Poultry Superintendent.
- Animals must be vet inspected before unloading 2:00 to 7:00pm Wednesday. Poultry, rabbits, cavies, pocket pets and chinchillas will be re-inspected after closing on Wednesday. Animals disqualified at that time must be removed by the exhibitor.
- The superintendents reserve the right to reject any entries showing signs of disease.
- The exhibitor must own or care for the animals exhibited for the life of the animal or at least 60 days prior to the fair.
- Youth exhibitors MUST care for own animals while at the fair. Adult exhibitors must care for or designate someone in his/her stead. Animals must be cared for and cages cleaned before 9:00am daily for the duration of the fair.
- Exhibitors must attend the meeting Thursday at 7:00am. Exhibitors must wear a "Poultry & Small Animal Barn exhibitor" ribbon and are encouraged to handle their animals during the fair.
- Exhibitors are responsible for cleaning their areas at the end of the fair. Premiums will be held back if this is not done.
- All exhibits must have breed on entry tags and slips.
- Market animals will be chosen from blue ribbon winners of the appropriate class and will be sold at the Market Animal Auction on Saturday.
- All pairs MUST be of the same breed unless otherwise noted in the Division and Class section.
- Primary 4-H exhibitors may show animals in Department A and will receive a green 4-H participation ribbon and medallion provided by Pend Oreille Valley Network.
- Exhibitors must be present for judging of animal or designate someone in their place (to bring the animal to the judging table). Notify superintendents if this is not possible.
- Youth exhibitors must wear white long-sleeved shirts and dark pants to show animals.
- The Fair Board will award grand Champion animals in each department 50 extra premium points.
- Champion poultry, rabbit, cavy and pocket pet exhibits must be in Parade of Champions.
- Fitting and Showing (youth only) listed in Department Q.
- Exhibitors will practice Herdsmanship barn duties throughout the day.
- Educational displays should be three-dimensional incorporating educational poster and other items (natural, fabricated or crafted) pertaining to the project. Display should be no larger than 30" X 30".

ROOSTER CROWING CONTEST
Friday, 9:30am at the Poultry & Small Animal Barn
Exhibitors may bring roosters entered in the Fair outside the Poultry & Small Animal Barn at 9:30 to see whose rooster will crow the most in 15 minutes. Roosters may not be handled during the contest.
